SYNERGY HomeCare Expands Its Presence in Southern Illinois

May 08, 2025 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. – SYNERGY® HomeCare has announced its newest franchise located just outside of St. Louis, SYNERGY HomeCare in Edwardsville.

The company is led by Heather Woodard, who brings a lifetime of caregiving and a passion for community service to her newfound journey in the home care industry.

Headquartered at 101 W. Vandalia St., Suite 125 in Edwardsville, IL, the company assists Madison County residents with a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care options, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

Woodard saw a growing need for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

A proud member of the Edwardsville chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, an international service organization founded by college-educated women in 1908, Woodard is dedicated to uplifting her community. A Kansas City, MO native and University of Central Missouri alumna with a degree in Public Relations, she has spent over two decades helping global brands tell compelling stories to drive sales, strengthen their reputations, and grow trust with consumers. Now, she channels her expertise, leadership and passion for helping others into a fulfilling new chapter in home care.

Woodard’s journey into home care is deeply personal. Inspired by her mother, a dedicated healthcare professional; her grandmother, who received home care in her final years; and her fiancé’s longtime interest in caregiving, Woodard’s passion for helping others became a natural calling. That calling grew even stronger after she faced a life-changing incident that left her with third-degree burns, requiring extensive in-and-out-patient care and therapy. The experience gave her an appreciation for the important role caregivers play in someone’s recovery and quality of life.

"As the owner, I hold myself and my team to the highest standards because I understand firsthand the trust families place in caregivers to care for their loved ones,” said Woodard. “We’re building a culture of excellence and compassion, and I invite you to experience firsthand how we make your loved one feel comfortable and cared for at home."

Edwardsville and surrounding Madison County is a small, thriving Illinois community just outside of St. Louis, MO that is home to multiple hospitals and medical facilities. Many members of this population need to rely on caregivers for additional assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even require personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.

“One of my goals is to generate awareness of the many offerings we provide to help broaden the way people think of home care as a service exclusively for aging populations,” said Woodard. “If you’ve had surgery and need help at home, we can help. If you’ve recently had a baby and need help with errands and homemaking tasks, we can help. We want children, spouses, parents and other guardians to let us help, so they can enjoy quality time with their loved ones and peace of mind. When that happens, we open the door for joy."
