Sylvan Learning Opens New Center in Glenville

May 09, 2024 // Franchising.com // GLENVILLE, New York — Sylvan Learning has opened its newest franchise location in Glenville, New York at 113 Saratoga Road across from the Schenectady County Airport. Currently on the second floor, the center will move to its permanent location in the same building upon construction completion.

Sylvan Learning of Glenville is locally owned and operated by Audrey and John Waterfield, a local couple with backgrounds in education who met at Niskayung High School and later married. They also own another Sylvan center together in Wilton.

“John and I met here, our kids go to school here and we know firsthand that there’s a desire and need for supplemental education services,” said Audrey. “Growing into Glenville will allow us to serve more families and make a lasting impact on students’ lives.”

The couple both obtained their masters in education before working for several years with Sylvan. Ownership was the next logical step. “Sylvan allows us to maintain a connection to what we love doing, which is teaching,” said John. “We believe in the power of Sylvan’s curriculum, and we’re proud to officially open in our hometown.”

Sylvan Learning serves as a key resource for students as they work to recover from pandemic-related learning loss. Sylvan’s tutoring approach and advanced technology-based curriculum are designed to give each student a personalized, trackable plan to achieve their educational goals.
