Local TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Kicks Off Movers for Mutts Campaign to Help Strays in Local Animal Shelter
Animal Protection Society of Durham Partners with Local Moving Company for October-Long Collection Drive and Candid Canines Contest
DURHAM, NC (PRWEB) October 07, 2015 - Pets are considered an important part of any family, but many potential pets are stray animals forced to rely on the support of local animal shelters like the Animal Protection Society (APS) of Durham. Many of these shelters, including the APS of Durham, are non-profit organizations that need the local community’s support securing adequate amounts of food, toys, and everyday living essentials for animals in need.
This is not an isolated problem. Eye opening statistics from the ASPCA reveal that approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized and about twice as many animals enter shelters as strays compared to the number that are relinquished by their owners.
So this fall, in honor of October’s National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, Triangle-based TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations are stepping up to raise awareness, encourage adoptions and collect financial gifts/donated items for APS of Durham through the Movers for Mutts campaign.
“As a dog owner myself, this is a campaign very near and dear to my heart,” says Brooke Wilson, owner of the Raleigh and Durham TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations. “Throughout October, I will be joining my employees and APS representatives at local sporting events to encourage adoptions and collect donated items and charitable contributions. Additionally, we will be hosting the Candid Canines social media contest to inspire local residents to share their favorite moments with their pups and showcase the powerfully emotional side of pet ownership. We are excited to help APS of Durham extend its reach and influence in and around the Triangle.”
The Triangle-based Movers for Mutts Campaign
In order to drive awareness for their partnership with APS of Durham and encourage adoptions, contributions and gifts, Triangle-based TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations will host a social media contest, a series of adoption/donation drives at local sporting events and a doggy parade/check presentation at the grand reopening of their Durham location as part of their comprehensive Movers for Mutts campaign.
