Leading Home Improvement Companies Help Furnish a New Home for Sergeant Sandra Lee

Orange, CA (PRWEB) October 10, 2013 - Budget Blinds and its sister company Tailored Living – two of the nation’s leading home improvement franchise systems – recently partnered with NBC’s popular home improvement show George to the Rescue to help furnish a new home for retired Army Staff Sergeant Sandra Lee. The show features home improvement guru George Oliphant as he tackles home and community remodeling projects that benefit families and community organizations in need. The George to the Rescue episode featuring Budget Blinds and Tailored Living will air on NBC stations in major cities across the nation this Saturday, October 12th, and Sunday, October 13th. Staff Sergeant Sandra Lee bravely completed eight years of honorable service as a Civil Affairs Specialist during Operation Iraqi Freedom. While on her tour of duty, she survived four roadside bombs but unfortunately suffered knee and traumatic brain injuries. Upon her return home, she began battling post-traumatic stress disorder. "My road to recovery has not been an easy one just like any other soldier who has returned from Iraq or Afghanistan after fighting for our freedoms," said Sandra Lee. "We return home changed and are often physically, and sometimes emotionally broken."

To honor Staff Sergeant Sandra Lee and give her a more comfortable life, George to the Rescue teamed up with Purple Heart Homes to build Sandra the perfect abode to jumpstart her civilian life. They sought out companies to help furnish the home; Budget Blinds and Tailored Living were proud to answer the call.

Budget Blinds, with the help of its vendor partner Springs Window Fashions, donated faux wood blinds and proceeded to install them throughout the home. Faux wood blinds were chosen because they are durable, easy to maintain and operate, and because they complement virtually any décor scheme. They also simulate the look of real wood blinds for a more luxurious feel. Budget Blinds’ sister company, Tailored Living, provided organizational solutions for one of the rooms as well.

"Our contribution to this effort is the least we can do to make life easier for one brave member of the U.S. armed forces who has put her life on the line to make sure we are all safe," said Chad Hallock, CEO of Budget Blinds. "I can only hope that it will inspire other companies to do the same because veterans truly need our help."

Tune in to NBC this Saturday and Sunday to watch Budget Blinds and George to the Rescue help improve the life of Staff Sergeant Sandra Lee in appreciation for all she has sacrificed for our country.
