ColorTyme Hires Rent-to-Own Veteran to Lead Operations Department

April 25, 2012 // Franchising.com // PLANO, Texas – ColorTyme, Inc., the nation’s longest-running franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores, announced today that it has hired Fred Mattox as Vice President and COO.

Mattox brings over 30 years of rent-to-own experience to his new position, in which he will serve as the head of ColorTyme’s Operations department. He will work with both franchisees and individual stores to maximize their operational efficiency.

“To have the opportunity to bring someone in like Fred who has both the experience in the industry and the knowledge of what it takes to be successful in the operations side of the business is very exciting for us,” said ColorTyme CEO Cathy Skula. “His presence will greatly benefit our growth plans for the company moving forward. The fact that we were able to recruit such talent from Rent-A-Center further demonstrates their commitment to ColorTyme’s long-term success.”

He began his career as a customer account representative for the Lone Star T.V. Rental Company, and has held a number of positions as he moved up in the field. Most recently, he was Divisional Vice President for Rent-A-Center, a company with whom he has spent the majority of his career, starting in 1995 when he joined the company as a District Manager. He was promoted to Regional Director, and then moved into his role as Divisional Vice President.

“I am excited to use my past experiences that allow me to best serve the ColorTyme franchisees,” Mattox said. “I have worked both with large corporations and for small businesses, and I understand what it takes to be successful in both.”

Mattox will work out of ColorTyme’s corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas.
