Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds for Norterra Canyon School at Grand Opening Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

January 07, 2011 // Franchising.com // Phoenix, AZ - Jersey Mike's Subs opened its seventh store in the Arizona market. Jersey Mike's owner Bill Mapes knows the importance of community relations and celebrated his new ties with the area during his grand opening on December 20.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 2501 West Happy Valley Road, hosted a week-long fundraiser from Mon., Dec. 20 through Sun., Dec. 26, with proceeds supporting Norterra Canyon School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 7,500 coupons were distributed throughout the community.

"I have been a small business owner in the quick serve restaurant world for more than 20 years and I firmly believe that giving back to the community, specifically the schools, is vital to succeed," said Bill Mapes. "When we provide excellence in education for our children, everyone in the community wins."

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
