Liberty Tax Offers a Winning Franchise Opportunity and Employment for Hispanics

August 24, 2007 // Franchising.com // VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.,-- Liberty Tax Service is focused on recruiting more Hispanic franchisees and bilingual tax preparers as part of a continuing effort to better serve its growing Hispanic customer base. There's still time to come aboard as a franchise owner- operator or take a tax course before tax season.

Liberty Tax Service is the only tax service included on Hispanic Enterprise magazine's 2007 elite list of the "25 Top Franchise Opportunities for Hispanics." The magazine considers each franchise named to have "made a corporate commitment to recruit prospective franchisees from the Hispanic community over the past several years."

Liberty Tax Service offers tax preparation instruction classes through the fall and early January that are open to everyone regardless of their previous tax experience. Classes range from ten weeks twice a week in the fall, to a week-long January "Rapid Class."

"The company's emphasis on creating a fun workplace and taking the fear out of tax preparation for its customers has broadened to include more cultural diversity awareness throughout the Liberty organization," said John Hewitt, CEO and Founder of Liberty Tax Service.

In 2004, Liberty Tax Service launched a Hispanic Services Division. Franchise owners are trained to handle issues that specifically pertain to Hispanic taxpayers, and take responsibility for going the extra mile to assist clients with navigating through the steps of the Federal tax filing system. Liberty Tax also offers family-friendly offices where children are welcome.

One ongoing primary goal is to enlighten foreign-born Hispanic customers, with less than five years residence in the United States, on all specifics of the tax filing procedures that apply to them. Most new Hispanic immigrants are not aware that they can and should file taxes. Most must obtain an "Individual Taxpayer Identification Number," or ITIN. Liberty Tax provides free seminars to address questions about ITIN preparation accompanied by free preparation of ITINs by bilingual preparers. The company is currently conducting a Hispanic certification program through a series of webcasts conducted by Hispanic consultant, Blaire Borthayre.
