New restaurant serves up Dairy Queen® iconic soft-serve treats, flavorful foods and Orange Julius® offerings.

December 31, 1969 // Franchising.com // LEWISVILLE, Texas – The Dairy Queen® system has opened its doors at 825 West Main St. in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The new 3,200 square-foot DQ® restaurant has added 45 new jobs, contributing to Lewisville’s employment growth. The new restaurant also will contribute to the state’s restaurant sales, which according to the National Restaurant Association are projected to increase by 5 percent this year.

“We are excited to open the first DQ Restaurant in Lewisville and welcome the community in to enjoy our full menu of cravable food items, cool treats and Orange Julius® Premium Fruit Smoothies, Light Smoothies and Julius Original drinks,” said restaurant operator Cary Albert, who also owns a Dairy Queen restaurant in The Colony and plans to open two more Dallas-area DQ® restaurants this year. “This new restaurant is sure to become a location where families and friends can gather to share smiles and stories over a great meal and treats.”

An Array of Menu Options

The DQ Restaurant concept blends the best of DQ iconic history with the most modern innovations in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry. The Texas Country Foods® menu features the quarter- and half-pound Hungr-Buster® Burger made to order with premium flavor options, as well as other delicious and unique food items, including Texas T-Brand Tacos®, Grilled and Crispy Chick'n Sandwiches, Steak Sandwiches and the Chick’n Strip or Steak Finger Country Basket®, which also are available for either lunch or dinner.

Along with all of the DQ favorites, such as the signature Blizzard® Treats, MooLatté® frozen blended coffee beverages, DQ Cakes and waffle bowl sundaes and cones, fans can choose from a variety of fruit-blended beverages, including delicious Orange Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies and now Orange Julius Light Smoothies. All Orange Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies, Light Smoothies and Julius® Original drinks are available in eight flavors including Orange, Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Tripleberry®, Mango Pineapple, Berry-Pom, OrangeBerry and Piña Colada and protein or banana boosts can be added. The Orange Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies are made fresh to order with real fruit blended with low-fat yogurt. The Orange Julius Light Smoothies are 170 calories or less in a small, contain no artificial sweeteners or flavors and are yogurt free.

Design and Décor

The DQ Restaurant interior brings an innovative dimension to QSR dining. Highlighted by the modern open-air grill, the restaurant features comfortable booths and large wooden tables, warm lighting, music and an overall inviting environment.

The restaurant can seat 78 guests inside, 25 outside and also offers a convenient drive-thru window.
