Franchise History

The Motel 6 story began in response to a simple yet unmet need: provide consistently affordable, clean, comfortable lodging. Nearly 60 years ago, we created the economy lodging segment. Today, we’re leading the industry into the future by prioritizing responsible business practices and responding to the needs of our team members, guests, franchisees and communities. For the first time in 60 years, we won’t have any owned and operated locations. We now are a pure franchise business and we are incredibly excited to continue working closely with our long-standing franchisees and welcoming new ones to the business.
