NLRB To Move Forward on Joint Employer Rulemaking

In a letter written on June 5, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chairman John Ring told Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) of the agency's intent to move forward with a rulemaking to address the standard for determining joint-employer status under the National Labor Relations Act.

That's a positive sign for franchise brands and franchisees, says IFA President and CEO Robert Cresanti.

"The NLRB's announcement is good news for franchises and franchise employees across the country," said Cresanti, in a statement. "While a legislative solution remains the best way to address this issue, this rulemaking is an important step toward increased stability and economic growth in the $450 billion franchise industry."
